Magnum Photos is an artist cooperative whose members are some of the most distinguished journalists in the world. The group has recently announced that its archive will be opened to the public. A bonanza of arresting images is now available online, and the organization's website lists upcoming opportunities to experience the work up close.

Also: The Jerome Foundation, created by artist and philanthropist Jerome Hill (1905-1972), makes grants that support emerging artists in the creation, development and production of new works. The economy has taken a toll its toll. The Foundation will announce whether or not it will offer a 2010 Travel and Study Grant Program in early December 2009 in a posting on the Foundation’s website.

Course Description

New York at twilight is a study in contrasts. Changing conditions of light and weather interact with architecture to build and dismantle an endless series of twilight cities, each hinting at pleasure and mystery. In this course, students explore this shifting scene, developing their powers of observation and photographic techniques.

They go on field trips.
